Hit the pin on the fly with an 8 iron from just inside 160, uphill slightly good lie in the middle of the fairway.
Cranky when I can't get out and play

During the morning round of a member-guest tournament last weekend I hit a 5 wood to 8 feet from 200 yards out. It was uphill into a 20 mph wind to a green that tilts from front to back. Of course I jacked the birdie putt but made the comeback for par. That would have been a 3 digit skin. Ouch!

3 digit skin? That would have been a clutch putt to make.

I don't have a shot of the week from my last round except perhaps my 2nd, on the par-5 first hole. 5-iron hit the green pin-high in two. Easy two putt birdie.

Playing tomorrow in my big money game. Need to bring the A game or will be busting out the wallet.

17th hole yesterday I was up against the side of a large bunker, about 30 feet from the hole. The sand wasn't even sand, it was like hard dirt. It was a guessing game as to whether or not the club would glide through the "dirt" or bounce off it like the freeway.

I guessed right and executed the shot perfectly. The ball came to rest about six inches right of the club. Guess I pushed it!

Last week brought TWO shots of the week in two different rounds.

First I was playing at Hidden Valley CC, a very nice private here in town. On the par-3 7th I hit an 8-iron over water from 158. The pitch mark was one foot short of the hole and about four inches right. The ball finished four inches left of the hole. Not sure how that didn't drop for an ace...

Second was at Bonneville last Thursday. With three presses going, I was 187 out in the right rough on the 18th hole. I hit a 6-iron which bounced short, rolled up and rattled the pin and hole. The ball finished 1" from the cup. Once again, not sure how that one didn't drop.

I came into the 18th hole at Talon's Cove today +1. I turned to my buddy and told him I needed a birdie to shoot even par. I hit the driver right down the middle, then knocked a 6-iron to 1.5 feet. Made the birdie to shoot 72.
