Woa, wait a sec. My last two shots of the week were both shots that hit the flag stick.

This past weekend I played in my city amateur tournament. I tied for 13th which was respectable.

I hit TWO shots of the week.

1. On the first day my drive on the 2nd hole was in the middle of the fairway 117 yards from the green. But unfortunately it ended up in a divot. I hit a descending chop shot with my gap wedge and the ball came out low but with a lot of spin. It ended up about 10 feet above the hole left where I made the putt for birdie.

2. On the 10th hole, day two I was above the green about one foot into the rough which is cut to U.S. Open length. Because the green is so severely slanted from back to front I had to hit a flop shot with a full swing, but the ball could only travel one foot in the air. Then it would have to trickle slowly down to the back pin about 20 feet. I pulled it off perfectly and the ball lipped out as it trickled by. The green was so fast that the ball didn't stop trickling until it was about 15 feet below the pin. I made the putt for par. That up and down was 1 in 100, if that.

My shot of the week was a 3 wood to the middle of the green on a driveable par 4, 260 yards with a tail wind left it in the middle of the green and missed the eagle putt from 15 feet but made the next one.
Cranky when I can't get out and play

Might have been my best 3W shot ever.

I've been playing well lately. Yesterday during my Sunday "money" game I shot a 70 which included a 32 on the back nine. Naturally if you shoot a 70, there are going to be some good shots!

My approach on the 17th was the temporary shot of the week candidate. I hit a 56 degree wedge to about three feet, made the putt for birdie. But then on the par-3 18th I stuck a 9-iron to less than two feet from 150 yards with a left to right cross wind. Birdie there too. That 9 was the shot of the week for me.
