I had a 77 the other day with a -1 on the front. The key: PUTTING. Had 11 putts on the front.

That is 43 putts for 18 holes !!! Just to be clear not 43 score total for 9 holes. Anyway, that is fantastic putting to do that all the time, if I could putt like you do I think I would have a decent shot at finishing under par once in a while. That is my goal this year - to get everything working right and maybe break 70 at least once. What I need to do right now is make some putts for birdies, not just pars and eliminate that one bad swing that gets me in trouble on one or two holes on each side that leads to a double or sometimes worse.

I'm a "feel" putter, but I do concentrate on a pendulum stroke. My shoulders arms and putter are all one piece with no moving parts.

I "try" to have a straight back and straight through stroke, but I know it has a tiny bit of swinging gate in it.

I've always been able to see lines and read speed of greens, even having never putted them before. I really consider it a gift.

I'm just as UNgifted in the chipping world though. That is tough for me.

Tony, you are correct. Putting is all feel. I too have that gift of seeing and feeling the greens. However, my chipping has improved with the purchase of a chipper.

Are you serious?

I have one here some company sent in for review. Looks like the loft of an 8iron.

Should I try it or are you messing with me?

To be honest another factor in my putting improvement might have almost as much to do with having new glasses as anything else. I was just not seeing the grass and the breaks the way I used to and finally went in and got fixed up. If I can see the break I can make the putt 90% of the time. I didn't realize my eyesight was causing me so much trouble on the greens.

Funny you mention that. My vision has been getting worse. Can't see the ball past about 150 yards. I now wear transitions lenses in my prescription glasses and I'd worried that they would HURT my putting. Seems like I'm good though.
