I have been playing good golf recently and shot a -3 33 in league on a Monday night for 9 holes. My next round was on Saturday at a different course where I also shot a -3 33 for 9. Both courses, while not the most difficult in the world, are regulation courses of about 3,100 yards.

My question is should this -6 66 be counted as my career best 18 hole round? The problem is that the course I play on is only 9 so I rarely play 18 making it hard to get 18 hole scores. My current best is 68.

Interesting question. I know on some 9 hole courses they have you play the nine twice, but from different tee boxes and if you play 18 then it's considered a full round. Not sure about playing 9 holes on two different days, though. Anyone know if there's an official USGA answer?

For handicap purposes it posted as a C 66, so for those purposes I guess it is a 66.

But is it right to consider it a true round of 66? I guess its more of a philosophical question than a technical one.

OK, look at this way. In a PGA tournament, if they play nine holes in the afternoon and come back the next day to play the other nine, they count them.

Very cool accomplishment.

Firstly, I'm very impressed by your scoring. Well done. I'm jealous !!!

From a philosophical point of view, I personally would not count this as a "true" 66 if I were in your cleats. Everybody knows it's easier to maintain a better performance for a shorter stretch than for the full 18 holes. It's part of what keeps us coming back. We look at stretches of play that demonstrates our ideal performance. Our score improves as we extend those stretches longer and longer, until we make it all 18 holes.

But, like I said, VERY well done nonetheless.

I wouldn't count it if you are combining two nines. I've shot 31 on the front before, only to be looking ahead at a career low round and shooting 41 on the back. It is MOST difficult to put ALL 18 HOLES together.

My career low is 68, 18 holes, same day.
