Old topic but I'm going to throw my $.02 in... I played some Nike Distance Soft's yesterday just because they were cheap and I thought I was going to lose a few of them, but found out that they were about 10yds shorter than the Titleist NXT Tours or Pro-V1x's... It may be a total mind thing, but I have a lot of confidence when I play the Pro-V1x and it seems to translate to my game but interestingly enough the Pro-V1 (non-X) is not as good to me... I love them until I lose one and then cry about the 4 bux I just put in the woods or water... So I tried a switch to the NXT Tour and they seemed to be pretty close to the Pro-V1x and about 15 dollars a box cheaper which helps a little...

Expensive ball - Titleist Pro-V1x
Midprice ball - Titleist NXT Tour
Cheap ball - ?

On the whole I've found that Nike balls (Distance Soft and Nike One Black) are 10yds shorter and scuff way too easily... Pretty disappointed with them lately especially since I have all Nike clubs/bag/glove and I like to be brand loyal

I'm a Top-Flite user for most of my rounds, although I do have a box of Titleist Pro V1's from a recent splurge. Am saving those for when I feel more confident in my ball striking.

Have been using the Top-Flite XL-3000 (Super Feel model) lately, and I have nothing to compare them to, with recently getting back into playing. In my opinion, Top-Flite has been a less costly golf ball, at what I believe comes out to just over a dollar a ball, and currently fit my 100+ game. The XL-3000 comes in various models, one being Super Long, which might be an option to consider. Have found them on the internet from $19.95 to $24.95 USD for a 15 pack.

I use Pro V1's simply because I get them free.

I've even used Wilson balls when I was on their club pro staff.

A ball is a ball no matter what company makes them, just remember the 3 types.

1. Dirt Cheap Rock Balls.
2. Mid Priced Performance Balls
3. High Price High Performance Balls.

Each company makes one or two of each type.

I use to play Nike balls and then discovered Titleist SO/LO were longer by 12 yards avg and now play Titleist NXT extreme and there even longer and bite well with my wedges so I dont blame you I dont like Nike balls at all !

I play the NEW Pro V1x's with the line. I LOVE them. I admit I could use a little more spin on the green, but on the flip side, I am getting a lot more yardage out of them and fortunately, I get them free, so I don't worry as much, unless I start losing them! I also carry the Precept Laddie/Lady's and those go pretty darn far for a less expensive ball. I heard the new Bridgestones are similar to the new Pro V1x's, but when I hit them, I did not like the way they felt. They seemed too hard. Well, that is my 2 cents!

Geez - I need to get a job where I can get some Pro-V1x's free - I'd never play another ball again
