Found a Ping Rapture in the bush (see story) just love it had a Bubble Burner II before and I still love it .. Confidence is all that matters with a Driver ...don't get overly fancy with an R11 and start playing with all the screws cause not being an engineer you'll never figure it out..and it may cost you a whole season... Keep it simple ..

Just replace my titleist 907D1 with the Ping G15 with the Serrano 60 shaft. Had a demo day and hit the I15 and the K15, the ball flight was so much better with the G15 that I just couldn't pass it up. At the same time I was messing around with fairway woods and the rep had a 17* 4 wood with the serrano 75 shaft in it and started hitting it and was hitting it the same distance as my current 3 wood. So in the end I ending up getting a new driver and fairway wood.

A swing change can make a big difference in what driver you hit well, I go along with that.

I have steel in my 5W because it is more difficult to snap hook that steel shaft. I use graphite in my 3W so it feels more like my driver and I use it mostly off the tee on narrow fairways or when I can hit into trouble with the big dog.

Went to pick the driver today. I choose 4 drivers to test. The Ping G15, Taylor made Burner 2.0,R11,and a Cleveland driver( Not Sure What One) The Ping and the Cleveland driver was eliminated quickly.

Here is the result of the two that was left:

Burner 2.0 Superfast- Launch angle 13 degree, 3200 spin, ball speed 158,258 yards rolls 262

R11 – Launch angle 11 degree, 2900 spin, ball speed 163, and 265 yards rolls 285

The results above are off of memory; I wish I would have written all of them down so I could have shared all the results. They are also the average of five balls hit per driver.

I choose the R11; the white was not as bad as I thought it would be. I kind of like the white top and black face.
I went to the range with the R11 and with some tweaking I got a few extra yards out of it. The only complaint I have is it feels a little dead. But I can live with that, because it is giving me about 15 more yards off the tee.
Lovin Life!!!!

Purchased a new Taylor Made Burner Driver at Golf Galaxy. The guy there was very helpful. After hitting a bunch of balls on a simulator we determined I needed a 9.5 with a stiff shaft. Because it was the 2009 edition it was only $149. I looked at the newest offerings and just can't see paying $399 for a club. I also think I would make myself crazy by constantly tweaking all of the different adjustments that can be made on the new drivers.
"Golf's ultimate moral instruction directs us to to find within ourselves a pivotal center of enjoyment: relax into a rhythm that fits the hills and swales, and play the shot at hand - not the last one, or the next one, but the one at your feet, in the poison ivy, where you put it. "-John Updike
