Uploading and embedding photos: Admin and authors

If you have high enough access level to write site articles or upload photos you may log in to the "back end" of the site to do so.  Make sure the file names for your photos DO NOT have spaces in them!

Logging in to the administration section

  • Point your browser to http://www.thegolfspace.com/administrator
  • Login using your regular username and password
  • Uploading an image

  • To upload an image put your mouse over the "Site" menu.
  • Select "Media Manager" where you'll see folders and images.
  • Open the "Articles" folder where we're now organizing images by year
  • Select the current year's folder
  • Confirm that your image is the correct size. TGS main content area maxes out at 500 pixels wide, so a 500 pixel image is about the biggest you'll want to use. 200-250 pixels wide for small images. In most situations a small image is best. Large images take up a lot of space and server bandwidth, as well as increasing site load time.
  • Click on the "Browse" button and find the image on your local computer to upload.
  • Click the "Upload" icon in the upper right of your screen. The image will upload and you'll see the thumbnail in the image gallery.
  • Inserting an image into an article

  • Login to site back end administration
  • Put your mouse over the "Site" menu.
  • Select "Media Manager" where you'll see folders and images.
  • Open the "Articles" folder where we're now organizing images by year.
  • Select the current year's folder.
  • Click on the desired image to place in the article. The image will pop up in a new window. You may right click the image to get the URL, or copy the Image/URL Code from the upper right of the main media manager window.
  • Exit the media manager and go to your article
  • Paste the code in the HTML of the article, or use the graphic image controls to insert image using the URL of the image only (not the full line of code)
  • Use image and/or HTML code or controls to adjust image settings.
